Here's Update #1 from Rob on Kash's progress in SAR training...

"I wanted to let you know the progress that we are making. We are now into directionals.  We start out with two platforms, approximately 20' apart.  Like a Baseball diamond you have pitchers mound then first second and third base.  We are at home.  The commands are "OUT"  to the pitchers mound.  "BACK" to second base.  (All the time using hand signals and lots of praise"  We have those two down pat, now we are working on over. What is this for?  Well when Kash is on a rubble pile, in a field working she has no lead.  No color or anything that might catch her and hurt her. So she must depend on me for direction.  At the same time she is scenting for a person.  We do that on alternate days as well as obedience.  By the way, she has passed and excelled in obedience class. I figure that within a year, she will have her SAR certification."
